The British Embassy Tokyo and the British Consulate General in Osaka, that make up the UK government’s Japan network, are seeking to select a technology specialist to support the country’s trade with Japan.
The selected technology specialist will be responsible for implementation of an artificial intelligence (AI) campaign and for growing high-value engagement across investment and trade at the British Embassy Tokyo.
The invitation to tender for the role is currently open with the deadline for the bids being 17 May 2019.
British Embassy Tokyo, in a statement, said: “This will be an exciting opportunity for you to work as an Tech Specialist from 1st June 2019 to 31st March 2020 with the Japan Network and engage in a variety of working opportunities.”
The embassy said that registering online for the role is fast, easy and free for interested candidates and will also be the only way in which the tender document can be reviewed.
For 2019-20, the UK Embassy in Japan is said to have an important objective pertaining to bolstering links between Japan and the UK in the digital and technology sectors on AI and also other areas.
The two countries have already witnessed a significant range of collaborations in research, trade and investment.
British Embassy Tokyo said that the UK being one of the top technology centres in the world and with a technology sector growing at almost double the pace of the normal economy provides a very strong opportunity for partnership with Japan. The agency wants to grow the partnership with Japan further during the next year.
The British Embassy in Japan is responsible for maintaining and developing relations between the UK and Japan. Its scope of work covers a variety of issues covering international cooperation in support of its values and working to diffuse conflict.
The embassy also has a role in building prosperity of the UK by means of increased trade and investment in open markets, and supporting its citizens who visit and live in Japan by offering modern and efficient consular services.
